  1  1    Section 1.  NEW SECTION.  595.3A  APPLICATION FORM AND
  1  2 LICENSE, INCLUSION OF ABUSE PREVENTION LANGUAGE.
  1  3    In addition to any other information contained in an
  1  4 application form for a marriage license and a marriage
  1  5 license, the application form and license shall contain the
  1  6 following statement:
  1  7    "Neither of you is the property of the other.  The laws of
  1  8 Iowa affirm your right to enter into and live within this
  1  9 marriage free from violence and sexual or physical abuse." 
  1 10                           EXPLANATION
  1 11    This bill creates new Code section 595.3A to require
  1 12 specific language regarding abuse against a party to the
  1 13 marriage to be included on the application for a license to
  1 14 marry and on a marriage license.
