1 1 Section 1. Section 147A.6, subsection 1, Code 1997, is
1 2 amended to read as follows:
1 3 1. The department, upon application and receipt of the
1 4 prescribed fee, shall issue a certificate to an individual who
1 5 has met all of the requirements for emergency medical care
1 6 provider certification established by the rules adopted under
1 7 section 147A.4, subsection 2. All fees received pursuant to
1 8 this section shall be deposited in the emergency medical
1 9 services fund established in section 135.25.
1 10 EXPLANATION
1 11 This bill provides that certification fees paid to the
1 12 department of public health by emergency medical care
1 13 providers are to be deposited in the emergency medical
1 14 services fund established in section 135.25. Moneys in this
1 15 fund are to be used to assist counties by matching, on a
1 16 dollar-for-dollar basis, moneys spent by a county for the
1 17 acquisition of equipment for the provision of emergency
1 18 medical services and to provide grants to counties for
1 19 education and training in the delivery of emergency medical
1 20 services.
