PAG LIN 1 1 Amend Senate File 2410, as amended, passed, and 1 2 reprinted by the Senate, as follows: 1 3 #1. Page 20, by inserting after line 16 the 1 4 following: 1 5 "___. The amount of the appropriation made in this 1 6 section is based on the assumption that the number of 1 7 bed days used in nursing facilities for fiscal year 1 8 1998-1999 will be one percent less than the bed day 1 9 usage assumed for the previous fiscal year. In 1 10 January 1999, the department shall evaluate the actual 1 11 bed day usage for the first six months of the fiscal 1 12 year. If the actual bed day usage during that period 1 13 indicates an actual reduction in usage of more than 1 14 1.10 percent, the department shall assume that the 1 15 rate of reduction experienced for the first six months 1 16 will continue for the remainder of the fiscal year. 1 17 Based on this assumption, the department shall project 1 18 an amount of state medical assistance savings for the 1 19 fiscal year using the amount of reduction in excess of 1 20 1.10 percent. The department of human services shall 1 21 transfer the amount of projected savings from the 1 22 appropriation made in this section to the Iowa 1 23 department of public health appropriation for grants 1 24 to counties for public health nursing, home care 1 25 aide/chore, and senior health programs. The Iowa 1 26 department of public health shall distribute the 1 27 transferred moneys proportionately to counties in the 1 28 form of supplemental grants based upon the individual 1 29 county's existing grants for purposes of public health 1 30 nursing, home care aide/chore, and senior health 1 31 programs." 1 32 #2.
