  1  1    Amend Senate Joint Resolution 2004, as passed by
  1  2 the Senate, as follows:
  1  3    #1.  Page 4, by inserting before line 12 the
  1  4 following:
  1  5    "Sec. ___.  The following amendment to the
  1  6 Constitution of the State of Iowa is proposed:
  1  7    Section 1 of Article X of the Constitution of the
  1  8 State of Iowa is amended to read as follows:
  1  9    HOW PROPOSED – SUBMISSION.  Section 1.  Any
  1 10 amendment or amendments to this constitution may be
  1 11 proposed in either house of the general assembly; and
  1 12 if the same shall be amendment or amendments are
  1 13 agreed to by a majority at least three-fifths of the
  1 14 members elected to each of the two houses, such
  1 15 proposed amendment shall be entered on their journals,
  1 16 with the yeas and nays taken thereon, and referred to
  1 17 the legislature to be chosen at the next general
  1 18 election, and shall be published, as provided by law,
  1 19 for three months previous to the time of making such
  1 20 choice; and if, in the general assembly so next chosen
  1 21 as aforesaid, such the proposed amendment or
  1 22 amendments shall be are agreed to, by a majority at
  1 23 least three-fifths of all the members elected to each
  1 24 house, then it shall be the duty of the general
  1 25 assembly to submit such proposed amendment or
  1 26 amendments to the people, in such manner, and at such
  1 27 time as the general assembly shall provide; and if the
  1 28 people shall approve and ratify such the amendment or
  1 29 amendments, by a majority of the electors qualified to
  1 30 vote for members of the general assembly, voting
  1 31 thereon, such amendment or amendments shall become a
  1 32 part of the constitution of this state."
