  1  1    Amend House File 2539 as follows:
  1  2    #1.  Page 12, by inserting after line 6 the
  1  3 following:
  1  4    "It is the intent of the general assembly that as a
  1  5 condition of receiving the appropriation provided in
  1  6 this subsection, the department of corrections shall
  1  7 not enter into any agreement with a private for-profit
  1  8 agency or corporation for the purpose of transferring
  1  9 inmates under the custody of the department to a jail
  1 10 or correctional facility or institution established,
  1 11 maintained, or operated by a private for-profit agency
  1 12 or corporation without prior approval by the general
  1 13 assembly."
