1 2 #1. Page 33, by striking lines 28 through 31 and
1 3 inserting the following: "state shall analyze area
1 4 education agency finances and operations for the 1996-
1 5 1997 fiscal year. In conducting the analysis, the
1 6 auditor of state shall utilize reports on audits of
1 7 area education agencies conducted in accordance with
1 8 section 11.6, information available from the
1 9 department of education, the department of management,
1 10 the area education agencies, and from any other source
1 11 necessary. The auditor of state shall have access to
1 12 all records of the area education agencies.
1 13 The analysis shall include, but shall not be
1 14 limited to, major areas of".
1 15 #2. Page 34, by striking lines 3 through 8 and
1 16 inserting the following: "staffing levels, number of
1 17 students served, purchase or lease of equipment and
1 18 facilities, and funding from local school districts.
1 19 The auditor of state shall bill the area education
1 20 agencies for the costs of the analysis, determined
1 21 according to the proportional enrollment served by
1 22 each area education agency for the 1996-1997 fiscal
1 23 year, and the area education agencies shall pay the
1 24 amount billed from state assistance provided to the
1 25 area education agencies for the fiscal year beginning
1 26 July 1, 1998. The results of the analysis,".
1 27 #3. Page 34, line 10, by inserting after the
1 28 figure "1999" the following: ", and shall be utilized
1 29 in the comprehensive study of school finance requested
1 30 in accordance with House Concurrent Resolution 15, if
1 31 resolved by the Seventy-seventh General Assembly".
