  1  1    Amend Senate File 549, as amended, passed, and
  1  2 reprinted by the Senate, as follows:
  1  3    #1.  Page 9, by inserting after line 10 the
  1  4 following:
  1  5    "Sec. 401.  The board of directors of each merged
  1  6 area shall certify to the department of management the
  1  7 amount of revenues collected by the merged area under
  1  8 the levies authorized in section 260C.22, subsections
  1  9 3 and 4, Code 1997.  The department of management
  1 10 shall reduce the levy authorized in section 260C.17 by
  1 11 the amount certified by the board in accordance with
  1 12 this section.  The board may transfer funds from the
  1 13 cash reserve fund to the merged area's general fund."
  1 14    #2.  Page 21, by inserting after line 18 the
  1 15 following:
  1 16    "Sec. ___.  Section 260C.22, subsections 3 and 4,
  1 17 Code 1997, are amended by striking the subsections."
  1 18    #3.  Page 27, by inserting after line 34 the
  1 19 following:
  1 20    "Section 401 of this Act, relating to the reduction
  1 21 of the cash reserve levy authorized in section
  1 22 260C.17, being deemed of immediate importance, takes
  1 23 effect upon enactment for purposes of calculating
  1 24 property taxes due in the fiscal year beginning July
  1 25 1, 1997, and ending June 30, 1998."
  1 26    #4.  By renumbering, relettering, and redesignating
  1 27 as necessary.
