PAG LIN 1 1 Amend House File 730 as follows: 1 2 #1. Page 9, by inserting after line 8 the 1 3 following: 1 4 "LEGISLATIVE OVERSIGHT 1 5 Sec. 101. LEGISLATIVE OVERSIGHT COMMITTEE. 1 6 1. COMMITTEE ESTABLISHED. It is the intent of the 1 7 general assembly that the legislative council 1 8 establish a legislative oversight committee which 1 9 shall be composed of ten members, consisting of three 1 10 members of the majority party in the senate appointed 1 11 by the majority leader and two members of the minority 1 12 party in the senate appointed by the minority leader, 1 13 and three members of the majority party and two 1 14 members of the minority party in the house of 1 15 representatives appointed by the speaker of the house 1 16 in consultation with the minority leader. The 1 17 majority leader of the senate and the speaker of the 1 18 house of representatives shall each designate a co- 1 19 chairperson and co-vice chairperson, and the minority 1 20 leader of the senate and of the house of 1 21 representatives shall each designate a co-ranking 1 22 member. 1 23 2. POWERS AND DUTIES OF COMMITTEE. 1 24 a. The purpose of the legislative oversight 1 25 committee is to review and analyze the structure and 1 26 operations of state government and the use of 1 27 information technology in providing services and 1 28 enhancing the ability of the public to interact with 1 29 government. 1 30 b. The legislative oversight committee shall be 1 31 staffed by the legislative fiscal bureau and the 1 32 legislative service bureau. 1 33 c. The legislative oversight committee may, 1 34 subject to the approval of the legislative council, 1 35 conduct a review of one or more programs or 1 36 regulations administered or enforced by state 1 37 government. 1 38 d. The legislative oversight committee shall 1 39 prepare a final report and a summary of the report for 1 40 submission to the general assembly not later than the 1 41 first day of each regular session of the general 1 42 assembly as provided in section 2.1. The report shall 1 43 contain findings and recommendations of the 1 44 legislative oversight committee, which may include 1 45 proposed bills or resolutions. 1 46 3. COMPENSATION AND EXPENSES. Members of the 1 47 legislative oversight committee who are not members of 1 48 the legislative council shall be entitled to receive 1 49 the same expenses and compensation provided for the 1 50 members of the legislative council. 2 1 Sec. . EFFECTIVE DATE. Section 101, as enacted 2 2 in this division of this Act, being deemed of 2 3 immediate importance, take effective upon enactment. 2 4 DIVISION IV" 2 5 #2.
