  1  1    Amend House File 710 as follows:
  1  2    #1.  Page 26, by inserting after line 19 the
  1  3 following:
  1  4    "Sec. 100.  MEDICAL ASSISTANCE APPROPRIATION –
  1  5 HEALTH PROGRAMS.  Notwithstanding section 8.33, of the
  1  6 funds remaining unobligated or unexpended from the
  1  7 appropriation to the department of human services for
  1  8 medical assistance in 1996 Iowa Acts, chapter 1213,
  1  9 section 3, at the close of the fiscal year beginning
  1 10 July 1, 1996, $1,500,000 shall not revert to the
  1 11 general fund of the state but shall remain available
  1 12 to be used for the purposes designated in this section
  1 13 in the succeeding fiscal year.  The moneys retained
  1 14 shall be transferred to the Iowa department of public
  1 15 health and shall be used in addition to the
  1 16 allocations in this Act in the amount of $1,000,000
  1 17 for the public health nursing program and $500,000 for
  1 18 the home care aid/chore program.  Notwithstanding
  1 19 section 8.39, moneys transferred pursuant to this
  1 20 section are not subject to further transfer."
  1 21    #2.  Page 27, line 28, by striking the word "DATE"
  1 22 and inserting the following:  "DATES.
  1 23    1"
  1 24    #3.  Page 27, by inserting after line 30 the
  1 25 following:
  1 26    "2.  Section 100, relating to a medical assistance
  1 27 appropriation, being deemed of immediate importance,
  1 28 takes effect upon enactment."
