1 1 Section 1. SOLDIERS AND SAILORS MONUMENT OF THE CIVIL WAR
1 2 &endash; REPAIR AND RENOVATION. There is appropriated from the
1 3 general fund of the state to the department of general
1 4 services for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 1996, and
1 5 ending June 30, 1997, the following amount, or so much thereof
1 6 as is necessary, to be used for the following purpose:
1 7 To provide for the renovation and repair of the soldiers
1 8 and sailors monument of the civil war on the state capitol
1 9 complex:
1 10 .................................................. $ 175,000
1 11 Sec. 2. WORLD WAR II VETERANS MEMORIAL &endash; PLANNING AND
1 12 CONSTRUCTION APPROPRIATION. There is appropriated from the
1 13 general fund of the state to the department of general
1 14 services for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 1996, and
1 15 ending June 30, 1997, the following amount, or so much thereof
1 16 as is necessary, to be used for the following purpose:
1 17 To provide for the planning, siting, and construction of a
1 18 world war II veterans memorial:
1 19 .................................................. $ 1,000,000
1 20 The capitol planning commission is responsible for the
1 21 planning and siting for a world war II veterans memorial on
1 22 the state capitol complex.
1 23 Sec. 3. REVERSION OF FUNDS. Notwithstanding section 8.33,
1 24 any unencumbered or unobligated funds appropriated in section
1 25 1 or 2 of this Act which remain on June 30, 1999, shall revert
1 26 to the general fund of the state on August 31, 1999.
1 27 EXPLANATION
1 28 This bill appropriates for the 1996-1997 fiscal year from
1 29 the general fund of the state to the department of general
1 30 services $175,000 to repair and renovate the soldiers and
1 31 sailors monument of the civil war and $1,000,000 to plan,
1 32 site, and construct a world war II veterans memorial on the
1 33 state capitol complex.
1 34 The capitol planning commission is responsible for planning
1 35 and siting the world war II veterans memorial.
2 1 Because capitol project appropriations have no reversion
2 2 date, the bill also reverts any unobligated or unencumbered
2 3 funds remaining from the construction or renovation projects
2 4 after three years.
