PAG LIN 1 1 Section 1. Section 237A.21, subsection 3, paragraph l, 1 2 Code 1995, is amended to read as follows: 1 3 l. Twolegislatorsmembers of the general assembly 1 4 appointed in a manner so that both chambers of the general 1 5 assembly and both major political parties are represented. 1 6 The senate appointment shall be made by the president of the 1 7 senate, and the house of representatives appointment shall be 1 8 made by the speaker of the house. The terms of legislative 1 9 members shall coincide with the term of the current general 1 10 assembly. Legislative members are eligible for per diem and 1 11 expenses as provided in section 2.10. 1 12 EXPLANATION 1 13 This bill relates to legislative appointments to the state 1 14 child day care advisory council in section 237A.21. Current 1 15 law provides for appointment of two legislators so that both 1 16 major political parties are represented. The bill specifies 1 17 that both chambers of the general assembly are to be 1 18 represented and that the appointments are to be made by the 1 19 president of the senate and the speaker of the house. The 1 20 terms of legislative members are made to coincide with the 1 21 term of the current general assembly.
