PAG LIN 1 1 Section 1. Section 91D.1, subsection 1, paragraphs a and 1 2 d, Code 1995, are amended to read as follows: 1 3 a. The hourly wage stated in the federal minimum wage law, 1 4 pursuant to 29 U.S.C. } 206, shall be increased to$3.85$5.00 1 5 onJanuaryJuly 1,of 19901996,$4.25$5.50 on January 1,of1 619911997, and$4.65$6.00 onJanuaryJuly 1,of 19921997. 1 7 d. An employer is not required to pay an employee the 1 8 applicable minimum wage provided in paragraph "a" until the 1 9 employee has completed ninety calendar days of employment with 1 10 the employer. An employee who has completed ninety calendar 1 11 days of employment with the employer prior to July 1, 1996, 1 12 January 1,of 19901997,1991,or1992July 1, 1997, shall 1 13 earn the applicable hourly minimum wage. An employer shall 1 14 pay an employee who has not completed ninety calendar days of 1 15 employment with the employer an hourly wage of at least$3.351 16 $4.85 as ofJanuaryJuly 1,of 19901996,$3.85$5.00 as of 1 17 January 1,of 19911997, and$4.25$5.50 as ofJanuaryJuly 1, 1 18of 19921997. 1 19 EXPLANATION 1 20 This bill increases the hourly minimum wage requirement for 1 21 employees with 90 calendar days of employment with the 1 22 employer to $5 on July 1, 1996, $5.50 on January 1, 1997, and 1 23 $6 on July 1, 1997.
