1 1 Section 1. The Iowa department of public health shall hold
1 2 a conference regarding domestic violence involving
1 3 representatives of the department of human services, other
1 4 appropriate state agencies or departments, educational
1 5 institutions, the medical community, businesses, clergy, and
1 6 judges involved in domestic violence cases. The conference
1 7 shall take testimony regarding domestic violence issues,
1 8 including persons who have researched the issue of domestic
1 9 violence and the treatment of persons involved in domestic
1 10 violence, and shall develop a comprehensive approach to
1 11 dealing with domestic violence, including proposals for
1 12 legislative changes. The conference shall present its report
1 13 to the general assembly by December 1, 1995.
1 14 The conference shall be funded by private contributions and
1 15 an allocation of state funds from the department of public
1 16 health for this purpose.
