PAG LIN 1 1 Section 1. NEW SECTION. 2.6A NOMINATION OF OFFICERS. 1 2 For the purposes of nominating members for election as 1 3 officers, if the two political parties having the highest 1 4 number of members in either the senate or the house of 1 5 representatives have, in a particular house, the same number 1 6 of members affiliated with each political party, the political 1 7 party having the majority of members in that house prior to 1 8 the last general election shall be considered the only 1 9 political party which can nominate members for election as 1 10 presiding officers or majority floor leaders until such time 1 11 as the tie in membership is broken. 1 12 EXPLANATION 1 13 This bill provides that when nominating members of the 1 14 general assembly for election as officers in that body, if 1 15 there is a tie in either house between the two political 1 16 parties having the most number of members, the political party 1 17 having the most number of members prior to the date of the 1 18 last general election shall be considered the majority party 1 19 until the tie is broken. 1 20 LSB 1922SS 76 1 21 sc/jj/8
