1 1 Section 1. Section 483A.1A, Code 1995, is amended by
1 2 adding the following new subsection:
1 3 NEW SUBSECTION. 4. "Resident" means a person who resides
1 4 in this state for thirty consecutive days or more immediately
1 5 before application for a license to hunt, fish, or fur harvest
1 6 or for a combination license for two or more of those purposes
1 7 and does not possess a resident hunting, fishing, or fur
1 8 harvester license or a combination license from another state.
1 9 A full-time student at an educational institution located in
1 10 this state who resides in this state while attending the
1 11 educational institution may purchase a resident license for
1 12 hunting, fishing, or fur harvesting or a combination license.
1 13 A resident includes a nonresident person under eighteen years
1 14 of age whose parent is a resident of this state.
1 15 EXPLANATION
1 16 This bill defines "resident" for the purpose of purchasing
1 17 resident hunting, fishing, or fur harvester licenses or a
1 18 combination license. A resident must reside in this state for
1 19 30 consecutive days before applying for a resident license and
1 20 not possess a resident license from another state. A full-
1 21 time student at an educational institution located in this
1 22 state who resides in this state while attending the
1 23 educational institution is considered a resident for the
1 24 purposes of purchasing a resident hunting, fishing, or fur
1 25 harvester license. A resident is also a nonresident person
1 26 under 18 years of age whose parent is a resident of this
1 27 state.
