1 1 Section 1. Section 262.9, Code 1995, is amended by adding
1 2 the following new subsection:
1 3 NEW SUBSECTION. 30. Direct the institutions of higher
1 4 learning under its control to compete against each other on a
1 5 home-and-home basis in all major national collegiate athletics
1 6 association division I-A sports, unless otherwise mutually
1 7 agreed upon. In football where the institutions do not belong
1 8 to the same division, the general assembly encourages
1 9 competition on a regular basis at the institutions with a
1 10 division I-A site.
1 11 EXPLANATION
1 12 This bill requires the state board of regents to direct the
1 13 institutions of higher learning under its control to compete
1 14 against each other on a home-and-home basis in all NCAA
1 15 division I-A sports unless otherwise agreed upon. In
1 16 football, where the institutions may belong to different
1 17 divisions, the general assembly encourages competition on a
1 18 regular basis at the institutions with a division I-A site.
