1 1 Section 1. Section 35A.3, Code 1995, is amended by adding
1 2 the following new subsection:
1 3 NEW SUBSECTION. 13. Hold its regular meetings at the
1 4 office of the commission. The agenda for each meeting shall
1 5 include a reasonable time period for public comment.
1 6 Sec. 2. Section 35B.6, Code 1995, is amended by adding the
1 7 following new subsection:
1 8 NEW SUBSECTION. 5. At least semiannually, one or more of
1 9 the members of each county commission of veteran affairs shall
1 10 visit the veterans of their respective counties who reside at
1 11 the Iowa veterans home to monitor their care and well-being.
1 12 EXPLANATION
1 13 This bill provides that the state commission of veteran
1 14 affairs shall hold their regular meetings at the office of the
1 15 commission, which is located at the Iowa veterans home. The
1 16 agenda for each meeting of the state commission is to include
1 17 a reasonable time period for public comment.
1 18 The bill also provides that one or more members of the
1 19 county commissions of veteran affairs shall visit, at least
1 20 semiannually, the veterans of their respective counties who
1 21 reside at the Iowa veterans home to monitor their care and
1 22 well-being.
