1 1 Amend Senate File 2470 as follows:
1 2 #1. Page 26, by inserting after line 26 the
1 3 following:
1 4 "Sec. . CORRECTIONAL SERVICES PILOT PROJECTS.
1 5 There is appropriated from the general fund of the
1 6 state to the department of corrections for the fiscal
1 7 year beginning July 1, 1996, and ending June 30, 1997,
1 8 the following amount, or so much thereof as is
1 9 necessary, to be used for the purpose designated:
1 10 For distribution to the first and second judicial
1 11 district departments of correctional services to be
1 12 used in accordance with the provisions of this
1 13 section:
1 14 .................................................. $ 100,000
1 15 1. The first and second judicial district
1 16 departments of correctional services shall utilize
1 17 moneys appropriated in this section to establish a
1 18 pilot project in each judicial district department of
1 19 correctional services to provide targeted services to
1 20 offenders convicted of a serious or aggravated
1 21 misdemeanor. The moneys appropriated in this section
1 22 shall be evenly divided between the first and second
1 23 judicial district departments of correctional
1 24 services.
1 25 2. It is the intent of the general assembly that
1 26 the pilot projects target offenders who are at high
1 27 risk to recidivate and evaluate the progress of
1 28 participants. The district court and the department
1 29 of corrections shall cooperate with the first and
1 30 second judicial district departments of correctional
1 31 services in carrying out the pilot projects and shall
1 32 assist in obtaining grants and private resources to
1 33 supplement this appropriation. Each judicial district
1 34 department of correctional services shall file a
1 35 report with the legislative fiscal bureau by January
1 36 15, 1998, on the results of the pilot project in the
1 37 judicial district."
