  1  1    Amend Senate File 2381, as passed by the Senate, as
  1  2 follows:
  1  3    #1.  Page 3, by striking lines 2 through 6 and
  1  4 inserting the following:
  1  5    "1.  "Caretaker" means a related or nonrelated
  1  6 person who has the responsibility for the protection,
  1  7 care, or custody of a dependent adult as a result of
  1  8 assuming the responsibility voluntarily, by contract,
  1  9 through employment, or by order of the court."
  1 10    #2.  Page 3, by striking lines 9 through 16 and
  1 11 inserting the following:
  1 12    "4.  "Dependent adult" means a person eighteen
  1 13 years of age or older who is unable to protect the
  1 14 person's own interests or unable to adequately perform
  1 15 or obtain services necessary to meet essential human
  1 16 needs, as a result of a physical or mental condition
  1 17 which requires assistance from another, or as defined
  1 18 by departmental rule."
  1 19    #3.  Page 7, by striking lines 27 through 30 and
  1 20 inserting the following:  "action for the appointment
  1 21 of a guardian or conservator or for admission or
  1 22 commitment to an appropriate institution or facility
  1 23 pursuant to the applicable procedures under chapter
  1 24 125, 222, 229, or 633, or shall pursue other remedies
  1 25 provided by law.  The appropriate county".
  1 26    #4.  Page 12, by striking line 29, and inserting
  1 27 the following:  "the removal or provision of
  1 28 services."
  1 29    #5.  By renumbering, relettering, or redesignating
  1 30 and correcting internal references as necessary.
