1 15 fiscal year beginning July 1, 1996, and ending June
1 16 30, 1997, the following amount, or so much thereof as
1 17 is necessary, to be used for the purpose designated:
1 18 For salaries, support, maintenance, and
1 19 miscellaneous purposes related to administering the
1 20 provisions of section 455B.112 which are applicable to
1 21 animal feeding operations, as enacted by this Act, and
1 22 for not more than the following full-time equivalent
1 23 positions:

1 28 "Sec. . Section 455B.112, Code 1995, is amended
1 29 to read as follows:
1 30 455B.112 ACTIONS BY ATTORNEY GENERAL – ANIMAL
1 31 FEEDING OPERATIONS.
1 32 1. In addition to the duty to commence legal
1 33 proceedings at the request of the director or
1 34 commission under this chapter, the attorney general
1 35 may institute civil or criminal proceedings, including
1 36 an action for injunction, to enforce the provisions of
1 37 this chapter including orders or permits issued or
1 38 rules adopted under this chapter.
1 39 2. The attorney general shall provide enforcement
1 40 for the compliance of animal feeding operations, as
1 41 defined in section 455B.161, with this chapter. The
1 42 attorney general, in cooperation with the department,
1 43 shall inspect animal feeding operations, enforce
1 44 provisions applicable to the operations, and provide
1 45 assistance to owners of operations, upon request, for
1 46 purposes of ensuring that the operations comply with
1 47 the provisions of this chapter. The attorney
1 48 general's office shall establish and publicize a toll-
1 49 free telephone number to facilitate the reporting of
1 50 suspected violations of chapter 455B by animal feeding
2 1 operations."
