  1  1    Amend Senate File 2140 as follows:
  1  2    #1.  Page 1, by inserting after line 23 the
  1  3 following:
  1  4    "Sec.    .  CONSTRUCTION AREA SAFETY STUDY.  The
  1  5 state department of transportation and the department
  1  6 of public safety shall study and prepare a joint
  1  7 report relating to vehicle speed management, enhanced
  1  8 speed limit enforcement, and work zone safety in
  1  9 construction areas.  The departments shall confer with
  1 10 representatives of the private sector construction
  1 11 industry to develop guidelines to promote motorist and
  1 12 construction worker safety.  The departments shall
  1 13 file the joint report with the general assembly by
  1 14 January 1, 1997."
  1 15    #2.  Title page, line 1, by inserting after the
  1 16 word "highways" the following ", requiring a report on
  1 17 safety in construction zones,".
  1 18    #3.  By renumbering as necessary.
