  1  1    Amend Senate File 178 as follows:
  1  2    #1.  Page 7, line 3, by inserting after the word
  1  3 "requirements." the following:  "The department shall
  1  4 adopt rules to recognize the previous EMS training and
  1  5 experience of first responders and emergency medical
  1  6 technicians certified prior to July 1, 1995, to
  1  7 provide for an equitable transition to the EMT-basic
  1  8 certification.  The department may require additional
  1  9 training and examinations as necessary and appropriate
  1 10 to ensure that individuals seeking certification have
  1 11 met the EMT-basic knowledge and skill requirements."
