1 1 Section 1. Section 272.2, Code 1995, is amended by adding
1 2 the following new subsection:
1 3 NEW SUBSECTION. 15. Adopt rules to permit issuance of an
1 4 educational license with an elementary counselor endorsement
1 5 to an individual who has received a master's degree in
1 6 counseling from a recognized non-Iowa institution if the
1 7 individual has completed a practicum in elementary school
1 8 counseling and has one year of successful teaching experience
1 9 in an accredited non-Iowa public or nonpublic school.
1 10 EXPLANATION
1 11 This bill directs the board of educational examiners to
1 12 adopt rules to permit issuance of an educational license with
1 13 an elementary counselor endorsement to an individual who has
1 14 received a master's degree in counseling from a recognized
1 15 non-Iowa institution if the individual has completed a
1 16 practicum in elementary school counseling and has one year of
1 17 successful elementary counseling experience at an accredited
1 18 non-Iowa public or nonpublic school.
