1 1 Section 1. Section 96.3, subsection 10, Code 1995, is
1 2 amended by striking the subsection and inserting in lieu
1 3 thereof the following:
1 4 10. The division shall provide access to health insurance
1 5 or health care coverage by making available to individuals who
1 6 file a claim for benefits under this chapter information
1 7 regarding their ability to obtain health insurance or health
1 8 care coverage.
1 9 EXPLANATION
1 10 This bill requires the division of job service of the
1 11 department of employment services to provide individuals who
1 12 file a claim for unemployment benefits with information
1 13 concerning their ability to obtain health insurance or health
1 14 care coverage. The bill deletes current law which provides
1 15 that the division of job service shall establish a program of
1 16 health insurance or health care coverage under a group policy
1 17 for individuals receiving unemployment benefits that may be
1 18 paid through a deduction from unemployment benefits received
1 19 by the individual.
