  1  1    Section 1.  Section 256B.15, subsection 7, paragraph b,
  1  2 Code 1995, is amended to read as follows:
  1  3    b.  The area education agencies shall, after determining
  1  4 the administrative costs associated with the implementation of
  1  5 medical assistance reimbursement for the eligible services, be
  1  6 permitted to retain up to twenty-five fifty percent of the
  1  7 federal portion of the total amount reimbursed to pay for the
  1  8 administrative costs.  Funds received under this section shall
  1  9 not be considered or included as part of the area education
  1 10 agencies' budgets when calculating funds that are to be
  1 11 received by area education agencies during a fiscal year.  
  1 12                           EXPLANATION
  1 13    This bill increases the percentage, from 25 to 50 percent,
  1 14 of the federal portion of the medical assistance reimbursement
  1 15 which area education agencies are allowed to retain to pay for
  1 16 administrative costs associated with the implementation of the
  1 17 medical assistance reimbursement for eligible special
  1 18 education services.
