1 1 HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO.
1 2 BY (PROPOSED COMMITTEE ON TECHNOLOGY RESOLUTION
1 3 BY CHAIRPERSON BRUNKHORST)
1 4 A Concurrent Resolution relating to the computerization of
1 5 the chambers of the General Assembly.
1 6 WHEREAS, it is the intent of the General Assembly to take
1 7 advantage of existing and emerging technology in seeking to
1 8 serve the citizens of this state and complete its work more
1 9 effectively and efficiently; and
1 10 WHEREAS, the installation and utilization of computers
1 11 within the chambers of the General Assembly will assist in
1 12 accomplishing that intent; NOW THEREFORE,
1 13 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES, THE SENATE
1 14 CONCURRING, That the chambers of the House of Representatives
1 15 and the Senate be computerized to allow for electronic access
1 16 to legislative databases, bills, and amendments, and to
1 17 provide for the electronic filing of bills and amendments; and
1 18 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That the computerization of the
1 19 chambers of the General Assembly shall include the
1 20 installation of computer terminals at each representative's
1 21 and senator's desk, the speaker's station, the president's
1 22 station, the chief clerk's station, and the secretary of the
1 23 senate's station; and
1 24 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That the Legislative Council in
1 25 cooperation with the legislative leadership of each house, is
1 26 directed to develop a plan of implementation and a budget for
1 27 completion of the plan and that the cost of implementing the
1 28 plan be paid from funds available to the General Assembly
1 29 pursuant to section 2.12; and
1 30 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That the computerization of the
1 31 chambers of the General Assembly be completed by no later than
1 32 the convening of the 1997 regular session.
