1 2 BY (PROPOSED COMMITTEE ON COMMERCE AND REGULATION
1 3 RESOLUTION BY CHAIRPERSON METCALF)
1 4 A House Resolution paying tribute to the memory of
1 5 Dennis J. Nagel.
1 6 WHEREAS, Dennis J. Nagel was born in Edgewood, Iowa,
1 7 received his bachelor's degree from the University of Iowa,
1 8 his master's degree from Rutgers University, and his juris
1 9 doctorate from the University of Iowa College of Law; and
1 10 WHEREAS, Dennis J. Nagel served the state of Iowa and the
1 11 public for many years in several different capacities
1 12 including, among others, his service as Chairperson of the
1 13 Iowa Utilities Board for seven years, President of the
1 14 National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners for
1 15 one year, First Vice-president of the National Association of
1 16 Regulatory Utility Commissioners for one year, member of the
1 17 Governor's Task Force on Uniform Administrative Rules for ten
1 18 years, and as Administrative Assistant to Governor Robert D.
1 19 Ray for eight years; and
1 20 WHEREAS, he will be remembered for his professionalism and
1 21 his straightforward approach to addressing issues and to
1 22 problem solving; and
1 23 WHEREAS, the House Committee on Commerce and Regulation
1 24 greatly valued his advice and counsel on many issues which
1 25 came before the Committee; NOW THEREFORE,
1 26 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES, That
1 27 tribute be paid to the memory of Dennis J. Nagel, and that he
1 28 be recognized for his many contributions to the citizens of
1 29 the State of Iowa; and
1 30 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That the Chief Clerk of the House
1 31 send copies of this Resolution to Dennis J. Nagel's parents,
1 32 Donald and Joyce Nagel, and family of Edgewood.
