1 1 Section 1. Section 666.6, Code Supplement 1995, is amended
1 2 to read as follows:
1 3 666.6 ANNUAL REPORT OF OUTSTANDING FINES, PENALTIES,
1 4 FORFEITURES, AND RECOGNIZANCES – PUBLICATION OF NAMES.
1 5 The clerk of the district court shall make an annual report
1 6 in writing to the state court administrator no later than
1 7 August 15 of the fines, penalties, forfeitures, and
1 8 recognizances which have not been paid, remitted, canceled, or
1 9 otherwise satisfied during the previous fiscal year.
1 10 The clerk of the district court may also publish on an
1 11 annual basis by August 15 in one or more newspapers pursuant
1 12 to the requirements of section 618.14 the names of the persons
1 13 who have failed to pay, remit, cancel, or otherwise satisfy a
1 14 fine, penalty, forfeiture, or recognizance for at least one
1 15 calendar year.
1 16 EXPLANATION
1 17 This bill authorizes the clerk of the district court to
1 18 publish in a newspaper the names of persons who are
1 19 delinquent, by at least a year, in paying a fine, penalty,
1 20 forfeiture, or recognizance. The clerk may publish this list
1 21 yearly, by August 15, pursuant to the requirements for
1 22 publication of matters of public importance in section 618.14.
