1 1 Section 1. Section 427.9, Code Supplement 1995, is amended
1 2 by adding the following new unnumbered paragraph:
1 3 NEW UNNUMBERED PARAGRAPH. A request for a property tax
1 4 suspension by a person and continued receipt of the suspension
1 5 is deemed to constitute the person's consent for the
1 6 department of human services to release information to the
1 7 county in which the taxes are suspended concerning the status
1 8 of the person's receipt of assistance which created the
1 9 person's eligibility for the tax suspension. Beginning with
1 10 the year following the year of initial eligibility, a county
1 11 may annually request the information from the department of
1 12 human services.
1 13 EXPLANATION
1 14 This bill provides for release of information by the
1 15 department of human services to a county concerning an
1 16 individual who receives a property tax suspension based upon
1 17 the person's receipt of public assistance. The bill amends
1 18 section 427.9 to provide receipt of a property tax suspension
1 19 by a person is deemed to constitute a consent for the
1 20 department of human services to release information upon the
1 21 request of the county in which the taxes are suspended
1 22 concerning the status of the person's receipt of the public
1 23 assistance.
