1 1 Section 1. Section 80B.13, subsection 8, unnumbered
1 2 paragraph 1, Code 1995, is amended to read as follows:
1 3 Revoke a law enforcement officer's certification for the
1 4 conviction of a felony or violation of grounds for revocation
1 5 adopted pursuant to section 80B.11, subsection 7. In addition
1 6 the council may consider revocation proceedings when an
1 7 employing agency recommends to the council that revocation
1 8 would be appropriate with regard to a current or former
1 9 employee.
1 10 EXPLANATION
1 11 This bill authorizes the Iowa law enforcement academy
1 12 council to revoke a law enforcement officer's certification
1 13 for violation of grounds for revocation established by rule by
1 14 the director of the Iowa law enforcement academy and approved
1 15 by the Iowa law enforcement academy council. Existing law
1 16 authorizes revocation of a law enforcement officer's
1 17 certification upon the law enforcement officer's conviction of
1 18 a felony or upon the recommendation of the law enforcement
1 19 officer's employing agency.
