1 1 Section 1. Section 321.420, Code 1995, is amended to read
1 2 as follows:
1 3 321.420 NUMBER OF LAMPS LIGHTED.
1 4 Whenever a motor vehicle equipped with head lamps as herein
1 5 required is also equipped with any auxiliary lamps or a spot
1 6 lamp or any other lamp on the front thereof projecting a beam
1 7 of an intensity greater than three hundred candlepower, not
1 8 more than a total of four of any such lamps on the front of a
1 9 vehicle shall be lighted at any one time when upon a highway
1 10 and shall be lighted only when conditions such as fog, snow,
1 11 sleet, or rain provide reduced visibility to motorists.
1 12 EXPLANATION
1 13 This bill provides that motor vehicles equipped with
1 14 auxiliary lamps or other lamps on the front of a motor vehicle
1 15 that are in addition to the head lamps shall not have the
1 16 lamps lighted unless weather conditions reduce visibility to
1 17 motorists. A violation of this section is subject to a $20
1 18 scheduled fine pursuant to section 805.8, subsection 2,
1 19 paragraph "e".
