  1  1    Section 1.  1994 Iowa Acts, chapter 1191, section 4,
  1  2 subsections 6 and 11, are amended to read as follows:
  1  3    6.  The following are range 5 positions:  chairperson and
  1  4 members of the utilities board, consumer advocate, job service
  1  5 commissioner, labor commissioner, industrial commissioner,
  1  6 commissioner of insurance, administrator of the historical
  1  7 division of the department of cultural affairs, administrator
  1  8 of the public broadcasting division of the department of
  1  9 education, the administrator of the state racing and gaming
  1 10 commission of the department of inspections and appeals,
  1 11 commandant of the veterans home, and secretary of the state
  1 12 fair board.
  1 13    11.  The following are range 9 positions:  director of the
  1 14 department of education, director of human services, director
  1 15 of the department of economic development, executive director
  1 16 of the state board of regents, director of the state
  1 17 department of transportation, lottery commissioner,
  1 18 chairperson and members of the utilities board, the state
  1 19 court administrator, and the director of the department of
  1 20 management.
  1 21    Sec. 2.  APPLICABILITY.  Section 1 of this Act applies to
  1 22 the annual salaries for the chairperson and members of the
  1 23 utilities board for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 1995,
  1 24 and for subsequent fiscal years until otherwise provided by
  1 25 the general assembly.  
  1 26                           EXPLANATION
  1 27    This bill assigns the chairperson and members of the
  1 28 utility board to salary range 9, which has a minimum salary of
  1 29 $72,600 and a maximum salary of $102,900.  Currently, the
  1 30 chairperson and members of the utility board are assigned to
  1 31 the salary range 5, which has a minimum salary of $57,400 and
  1 32 a maximum salary of $73,900.  The bill applies to the fiscal
  1 33 year beginning July 1, 1995, and subsequent fiscal years until
  1 34 otherwise provided by the general assembly.
