PAG LIN 1 1 Section 1. Section 326.45, Code 1995, is amended to read 1 2 as follows: 1 3 326.45 ISSUANCE &endash; TITLE OBLIGATION. 1 4 Upon receiving application for and payment of the 1 5 registration feeand notification of title, the department 1 6 shall issue registration identification to the applicant 1 7 carrierand. Upon receiving application for and payment of 1 8 the title fee and notification of title, the department shall 1 9 send the certificate of title to the vehicle owner or 1 10 lienholder. The department shall adopt rules pursuant to 1 11 chapter 17A to process registration of vehicles titled in 1 12 other states. 1 13 EXPLANATION 1 14 This bill permits, for carriers subject to proportional 1 15 registration, issuance of registration identification to a 1 16 carrier upon payment of the registration fee without 1 17 notification of title. The bill also requires, for vehicles 1 18 subject to proportional registration, a vehicle owner or 1 19 lienholder to pay a title fee before receiving the certificate 1 20 of title. 1 21 LSB 2032HV 76 1 22 ec/sc/14
