1 1 Section 1. Section 99B.7, Code 1995, is amended by adding
1 2 the following new subsection:
1 3 NEW SUBSECTION. 8. Upon application and payment of a fee
1 4 of fifteen dollars, the department shall issue a bingo
1 5 contract permit to a qualified organization. The bingo
1 6 contract permit authorizes a qualified organization to
1 7 contract with a person licensed to conduct bingo under this
1 8 chapter to conduct an annual bingo occasion on behalf of the
1 9 qualified organization. A bingo licensee shall conduct the
1 10 contract bingo occasion at the location where the licensee
1 11 normally conducts bingo games. The bingo contract permit
1 12 authorizes the conduct of only one bingo occasion per year for
1 13 the qualified organization. However, a bingo occasion
1 14 pursuant to this subsection may exceed four hours. The
1 15 qualified organization shall distribute the net receipts of
1 16 the annual bingo occasion in compliance with this section.
1 17 EXPLANATION
1 18 This bill authorizes a person who is licensed to conduct
1 19 bingo games under chapter 99B to contract with a qualified
1 20 organization to conduct an annual bingo occasion on behalf of
1 21 the qualified organization. The qualified organization is
1 22 eligible to contract for the bingo occasion only once per year
1 23 and the net receipts from the bingo occasion shall be
1 24 distributed in compliance with the charitable, patriotic,
1 25 educational, public, or religious purpose of the qualified
1 26 organization. A violation of chapter 99B is punishable as a
1 27 serious misdemeanor, which means a fine of at least $250 but
1 28 not more than $1,000, or imprisonment for not more than one
1 29 year.
