1 1 Section 1. Section 147.14, subsection 1, Code 1995, is
1 2 amended to read as follows:
1 3 1. For podiatry, cosmetology arts and sciences, barbering,
1 4 mortuary science, and social work, three members each,
1 5 licensed to practice the profession for which the board
1 6 conducts examinations, and two members who are not licensed to
1 7 practice the profession for which the board conducts
1 8 examinations and who shall represent the general public. A
1 9 quorum shall consist of a majority of the members of the
1 10 board.
1 11 Sec. 2. Section 147.14, subsection 14, Code 1995, is
1 12 amended by striking the subsection.
1 13 EXPLANATION
1 14 This bill changes the composition of the board of
1 15 cosmetology arts and sciences examiners to provide for five
1 16 members, three of whom practice the profession and two of whom
1 17 are public members. Current law provides for a total of seven
1 18 members, five representing specific areas of cosmetology and
1 19 two public members.
