1 1 Section 1. NEW SECTION. 622.71A VOLUNTEER FIRE FIGHTERS
1 2 &endash; WITNESS COMPENSATION.
1 3 A volunteer fire fighter, as defined in section 85.61, who
1 4 is subpoenaed to appear as a witness in connection with a
1 5 matter regarding an event or transaction which the fire
1 6 fighter perceived or investigated in the course of duty as a
1 7 volunteer fire fighter, shall receive reasonable compensation
1 8 as determined by the court from the party who subpoenaed the
1 9 volunteer fire fighter. The daily compensation shall be equal
1 10 to the average daily wage paid to full-time fire fighters of
1 11 the same rank within the judicial district. However, the
1 12 requirements of this section are not applicable if a volunteer
1 13 fire fighter will receive the volunteer fire fighter's regular
1 14 salary or other compensation pursuant to the policy of the
1 15 volunteer fire fighter's regular employer, for the period of
1 16 time required for travel to and from where the court or other
1 17 tribunal is located and while the volunteer fire fighter is
1 18 required to remain at that place pursuant to the subpoena.
