1 1 Section 1. Section 18.6, Code 1995, is amended by adding
1 2 the following new subsection:
1 3 NEW SUBSECTION. 5A. The director shall adopt rules which
1 4 require that each bidder provide proof at the time the bidder
1 5 submits its bid for a contract that the bidder provides a
1 6 health care coverage plan for its employees. The director
1 7 shall only accept and consider a bid which includes the
1 8 required proof.
1 9 Sec. 2. NEW SECTION. 216B.9 CONTRACTORS REQUIRED TO
1 10 PROVIDE HEALTH CARE COVERAGE.
1 11 The commission shall adopt rules which require that each
1 12 bidder provide proof at the time the bidder submits its bid
1 13 for a contract with the department that the bidder provides a
1 14 health care coverage plan for its employees. The commission
1 15 shall only accept and consider a bid which includes the
1 16 required proof.
1 17 Sec. 3. NEW SECTION. 262.33B CONTRACTORS REQUIRED TO
1 18 PROVIDE HEALTH CARE COVERAGE.
1 19 The board shall adopt rules which require that each bidder
1 20 provide proof at the time the bidder submits its bid for a
1 21 contract with the board pursuant to section 262.34 that the
1 22 bidder provides a health care coverage plan for its employees.
1 23 The board shall only accept and consider a bid which includes
1 24 the required proof.
1 25 Sec. 4. NEW SECTION. 307.50 CONTRACTORS REQUIRED TO
1 26 PROVIDE HEALTH CARE COVERAGE.
1 27 The department shall adopt rules which require that each
1 28 bidder provide proof at the time the bidder submits its bid
1 29 for a contract with the department that the bidder provides a
1 30 health care coverage plan for its employees. The department
1 31 shall only accept and consider a bid which includes the
1 32 required proof.
1 33 EXPLANATION
1 34 This bill provides that a person who bids on a state
1 35 contract must show at the time the bid is submitted that the
2 1 bidder provides a health care coverage plan for its employees.
