  1  1    Section 1.  Section 607A.3, subsection 6, Code 1995, is
  1  2 amended to read as follows:
  1  3    6.  "Motor vehicle operators list" means the official
  1  4 records maintained by the state of the names and addresses of
  1  5 those individuals in the respective counties retaining valid
  1  6 motor vehicle operator's licenses on or before March 15 of
  1  7 each odd-numbered year.
  1  8    Sec. 2.  Section 607A.3, subsection 12, Code 1995, is
  1  9 amended to read as follows:
  1 10    12.  "Voter registration list" means the official records
  1 11 maintained by the state of names and addresses of persons
  1 12 registered to vote on or before March 15 of each odd-numbered
  1 13 year.
  1 14    Sec. 3.  Section 607A.10, Code 1995, is amended to read as
  1 15 follows:
  1 16    607A.10  APPOINTIVE COMMISSION &endash; MASTER LIST.
  1 17    In each county the judges of the district court of the
  1 18 judicial district in which the county is located shall, on or
  1 19 before March 1 of each odd-numbered year, shall appoint three
  1 20 competent electors as a jury commission to draw up the master
  1 21 list for the two years one-year period beginning the following
  1 22 July 1.  The names for the master list shall be taken from the
  1 23 source lists.  If all of the source lists are not used to draw
  1 24 up the master list, then the names drawn must be selected in a
  1 25 random manner.
  1 26    Sec. 4.  Section 607A.20, Code 1995, is amended to read as
  1 27 follows:
  1 28    607A.20  JURY MANAGER.
  1 29    If the chief judge of the judicial district uses electronic
  1 30 data processing techniques and equipment for the drawing of
  1 31 jurors in lieu of a jury commission, the chief judge shall,
  1 32 after consultation with the clerk, district court
  1 33 administrator, and county auditor, shall appoint an individual
  1 34 to serve as the jury manager for the county.  The jury manager
  1 35 shall be responsible for the implementation of this chapter
  2  1 for the county.  The jury manager shall update the master list
  2  2 from the source lists at least once every two years year
  2  3 beginning January 1 after the general election is held.
  2  4    Sec. 5.  Section 607A.22, unnumbered paragraph 2, Code
  2  5 1995, is amended to read as follows:
  2  6    The appointive jury commission or the jury manager may use
  2  7 any other current comprehensive list of persons residing in
  2  8 the county, including but not limited to the lists of public
  2  9 utility customers, which the appointive jury commission or
  2 10 jury manager determines are useable for the purpose of a juror
  2 11 source list.
