  1  1    Amend Senate File 2265, as amended, passed, and
  1  2 reprinted by the Senate, as follows:
  1  3    #1.  Page 1, by striking lines 3 through 13 and
  1  4 inserting the following:
  1  5    "1.  The parties to a dissolution of marriage,
  1  6 modification of an order entered relating to a
  1  7 dissolution of marriage which involves the issues of
  1  8 child custody, visitation, or child support, shall
  1  9 participate in a court-approved course to educate and
  1 10 sensitize the parties to the needs of any child or
  1 11 party during and subsequent to the proceeding within
  1 12 forty-five days of the filing of a petition for
  1 13 dissolution of marriage or within forty-five days of
  1 14 the application for modification of an order.
  1 15 Participation in the course may be waived or delayed
  1 16 by the court for good cause including, but not limited
  1 17 to, a default by any of the parties.  Participation in
  1 18 the course is not required if the proceeding involves
  1 19 termination of parental rights of any of the parties.
  1 20 A decree dissolving a marriage shall not be granted
  1 21 and an order relating to modification shall not be
  1 22 entered until the parties have participated in the
  1 23 required course.  Notwithstanding participation in the
  1 24 required course, however, if the court finds that the
  1 25 decree or order is not in the best interest of a
  1 26 child, the decree shall not be granted and the order
  1 27 shall not be entered."
