1 1 Amend the amendment, H-5683, to Senate File 2195,
1 2 as amended, passed, and reprinted by the Senate, as
1 3 follows:
1 4 #1. By striking page 2, line 45, through page 3,
1 5 line 18, and inserting the following:
1 6 "For purposes designated in paragraphs "a" and "b",
1 7 and for not more than the following full-time
1 8 equivalent positions:
1 9 .................................................. $ 1,950,000
1 10 ................................................FTEs 10.0
1 11 a. As a condition of the appropriation in this
1 12 subsection, $450,000 of the amount appropriated shall
1 13 be expended by the public broadcasting division of the
1 14 department of education to provide support for
1 15 functions related to the network, including but not
1 16 limited to the following functions: scheduling for
1 17 video classrooms; development of distance learning
1 18 applications; development of a central information
1 19 source on the Internet relating to educational uses of
1 20 the network; second-line technical support for network
1 21 sites; testing and initializing sites onto the
1 22 network; and coordinating the work of the education
1 23 telecommunications council. The division is
1 24 authorized an additional 5.00 FTEs for a total of
1 25 10.00 FTEs for the purpose of providing such support.
1 26 b. As a further condition of the appropriation in
1 27 this subsection, $1,500,000 of the amount appropriated
1 28 shall be allocated by the public broadcasting division
1 29 of the department of education to the regional
1 30 telecommunications councils established in section
1 31 8D.5. The regional telecommunications councils shall
1 32 use the funds to provide technical assistance for
1 33 network classrooms, planning and troubleshooting for
1 34 local area networks, scheduling of video sites, and
1 35 other related support activities."
