1 1 Amend the amendment, H-3518, to House File 535 as
1 2 follows:
1 3 #1. Page 1, by striking lines 7 through 16 and
1 4 inserting the following:
1 5 "NEW PARAGRAPH. c. The violation of the statutory
1 6 compulsory attendance age requirement or the
1 7 attendance policy of a public or an accredited
1 8 nonpublic school by a child who has reached the age of
1 9 twelve and is under the age of sixteen and who has run
1 10 away from home to avoid attending school or is
1 11 refusing to attend school, or who has been deemed
1 12 truant under section 299.8 six or more school days in
1 13 one semester, where the child's parent, guardian, or
1 14 legal or actual custodian and the school in which the
1 15 child is enrolled have made every reasonable effort to
1 16 cause the child to attend school. This provision
1 17 shall not apply to a child attending a nonaccredited
1 18 nonpublic school or receiving competent private
1 19 instruction."
