  1  1    Amend House File 291 as follows:
  1  2    #1.  Page 1, by inserting after line 35 the
  1  3 following:
  1  4    "Sec.    .  Section 602.9204, subsection 2,
  1  5 paragraphs a and c, Code 1995, are amended to read as
  1  6 follows:
  1  7    a.  "Basic senior judge salary" means the average
  1  8 annual basic salary for the senior judge's or retired
  1  9 senior judge's last three years as a judge of one or
  1 10 more of the courts included in this article basic
  1 11 annual salary which the judge is receiving at the time
  1 12 the judge becomes separated from full-time service, as
  1 13 would be used in computing an annuity pursuant to
  1 14 section 602.9107 without service as a senior judge,
  1 15 plus seventy-five percent of the escalator.
  1 16    c.  "Escalator" means the difference between the
  1 17 current basic salary, as of the time each payment is
  1 18 made up to and including the twelve-month period
  1 19 during which the senior judge or retired senior judge
  1 20 attains seventy-eight years of age, of the office in
  1 21 which the senior judge last served as a judge before
  1 22 retirement as a judge or senior judge, and the average
  1 23 annual basic salary for the senior judge's or retired
  1 24 senior judge's last three years basic annual salary
  1 25 which the judge is receiving at the time the judge
  1 26 becomes separated from full-time service as a judge of
  1 27 one or more of the courts included in this article, as
  1 28 would be used in computing an annuity pursuant to
  1 29 section 602.9107 without service as a senior judge."
  1 30    #2.  Title page, line 3, by inserting after the
  1 31 word "judges," the following:  "affecting senior judge
  1 32 retirement benefits,".
  1 33    #3.  By renumbering as necessary.
