1 1 Amend the amendment, H-3009, to Senate File 13 as
1 2 amended, passed, and reprinted by the Senate, as
1 3 follows:
1 4 #1. Page 1, by inserting after line 44 the
1 5 following:
1 6 "(2A) The video shall explain that if the pregnant
1 7 minor decides to continue the pregnancy to term and to
1 8 retain parental rights to the child, the father of the
1 9 child is liable for the support of the child and if
1 10 the father of the child is a minor and is unable to
1 11 provide support, that the grandparents of the child
1 12 are liable for support until the child's parent
1 13 reaches eighteen years of age."
1 14 #2. Page 2, line 10, by inserting after the word
1 15 "minor." the following: "The information provided
1 16 shall include information explaining that if a
1 17 pregnant minor decides to continue the pregnancy to
1 18 term and to retain parental rights, the father of the
1 19 child is liable for the support of the child and that
1 20 if the father of the child is a minor and is unable to
1 21 provide support, that the grandparents of the child
1 22 are liable for support until the child's minor parent
1 23 reaches eighteen years of age. The information shall
1 24 also explain that the pregnant minor may seek the
1 25 assistance of the child support recovery unit of the
1 26 department of human services in establishing paternity
1 27 and in seeking support."
1 28 #3. Page 4, by inserting after line 43, the
1 29 following:
1 30 "Sec. . Section 252A.3, Code 1995, is amended
1 31 by adding the following new subsection:
1 32 NEW SUBSECTION. 10. If a child's parent is under
1 33 eighteen years of age and is unable to support the
1 34 child, the child's grandparent is obligated for the
1 35 child's support until the child's parent reaches
1 36 eighteen years of age. Support includes but is not
1 37 limited to payment of a reasonable amount of the costs
1 38 associated with the pregnancy, medical support, and
1 39 maintenance."
1 40 #4. By renumbering as necessary.
