4BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF IOWA:
1 Section 1. Section 97B.49B, subsection 1, paragraph e, Code
22018, is amended by adding the following new subparagraph:
3 NEW SUBPARAGRAPH. (17) A person employed by an employer
4under this chapter as a public safety telecommunicator who is
5not a member of the retirement system established in chapter
697A or 411.
7EXPLANATION
8The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with
9the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly.
10This bill provides that persons employed as a public
11safety telecommunicator that are not otherwise a member of
12the retirement system in Code chapter 97A or 411 are included
13within the protection occupation category of the Iowa public
14employees’ retirement system.
