House Resolution 11 - Introduced

An Act 1requesting the legislative council to
2establish an interim committee to study local
3government services and make recommendations on how
4local governments can serve the people of Iowa more
5efficiently.
6WHEREAS, Iowa’s local governments provide many
7different services to the people of Iowa;and
8WHEREAS, Iowa’s local governments serve as political
9subdivisions of the state and serve their populations
10locally;and
11WHEREAS, the general assembly has a duty to ensure
12the efficient provision of governmental services to the
13people of this state;NOW THEREFORE,
   14BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES, That
15the house of representatives requests the legislative
16council to establish an interim study committee,
17composed of members of the senate and the house of
18representatives to meet during the 2017 and 2018
19legislative interims to study the different services
20provided by the local governments of this state and,
21if appropriate, to make recommendations on how local
22governments can more efficiently provide such services
23to the people of this state.
