2property by the natural resource commission.
3BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF IOWA:
1 Section 1. Section 481A.38, Code 2017, is amended by adding
2the following new subsection:
3 NEW SUBSECTION. 4. The commission shall not restrict or
4prohibit hunting on specific private property generally or for
5the hunting of a particular wild animal, so long as the person
6hunting on that property is otherwise qualified to hunt in
7this state, purchases a valid hunting license that includes
8the wildlife habitat fee and a valid hunting license for the
9type of wild animal being hunted, if applicable, and adheres to
10all municipal, county, state, and federal regulations that are
11applicable to hunting and specifically applicable to the type
12of wild animal being hunted, including but not limited to daily
13limits, possession limits, shooting hours, methods of take, and
14transportation of a carcass.
15EXPLANATION
16The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with
17the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly.
18This bill provides that the natural resource commission
19shall not restrict or prohibit hunting on specific private
20property generally or for the hunting of a particular wild
21animal, so long as the hunter is otherwise qualified to hunt in
22this state, purchases a valid hunting license that includes the
23wildlife habitat fee and a valid hunting license for the type
24of wild animal being hunted, if applicable, and adheres to all
25municipal, county, state, and federal regulations applicable to
26the hunting and to the type of wild animal being hunted.
