House Study Bill 113 - IntroducedA Bill ForAn Act 1related to allowable annual salaries for deputy county

3BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF IOWA:
1   Section 1.  Section 331.904, subsection 1, paragraph a, Code
22017, is amended to read as follows:
   3a.  The annual base salary of the first and second deputy
4officer of the office of auditor, treasurer, and recorder, the
5deputy in charge of elections administration,
the deputy in
6charge of the motor vehicle registration and title division,
7and the deputy in charge of driver’s license issuance shall
8each be an amount not to exceed eighty-five percent of the
9annual salary of the deputy’s principal officer. In offices
10where more than two deputies are required, the annual base
11salary of each additional deputy shall be an amount not to
12exceed eighty percent of the principal officer’s salary. The
13amount of the annual base salary of each deputy shall be
14certified by the principal officer to the board and, if a
15deputy’s annual base salary does not exceed the limitations
16specified in this subsection, the board shall certify the
17annual base salary to the auditor. The board shall not certify
18a deputy’s annual base salary which exceeds the limitations of
19this subsection.
20EXPLANATION
21The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with
22the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly.
   23This bill provides that the annual salary of a county’s
24deputy auditor in charge of elections administration shall not
25exceed 85 percent of the annual salary of the county auditor.
