3BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF IOWA:
1 Section 1. Section 237A.1, subsection 3, Code 2017, is
2amended by adding the following new paragraph:
3 NEW PARAGRAPH. n. A program provided by a school district
4for three-year-old children requiring special education as
5defined in section 256B.2.
6EXPLANATION
7The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with
8the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly.
9This bill relates to the definition of child care for
10purposes of regulation by the department of human services.
11The bill exempts programs provided by a school district for
12three-year-old children requiring special education from the
13licensing requirements for child care facilities under Code
14chapter 237A.
