3BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF IOWA:
1   Section 1.  Section 1D.1, Code 2017, is amended to read as
2follows:
   31D.1  Standard time and daylight saving time.
   4The standard time in this state is the solar time of the
5ninetieth meridian of longitude west of Greenwich, England,
6commonly known as central standard time, except that from 2:00
7ante meridiem of the first Sunday of April in every year until
82:00 ante meridiem of the last Sunday of October in the same
9year, standard time shall be advanced one hour
. The period of
10time so advanced shall be known as “daylight saving time”.

11   Sec. 2.  Section 714G.1, subsection 6, Code 2017, is amended
12to read as follows:
   136.  “Normal business hours” means Sunday through Saturday,
14between the hours of 6:00 a.m.and 9:30 p.m., central standard
15time or central daylight saving time.

17The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with
18the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly.
   19This bill establishes central standard time as standard time
20in this state throughout the year.
