Senate Resolution 2 - Introduced










An Act 1honoring and congratulating Joan Arnett
2for her dedicated service to the Iowa General
3Assembly and the State of Iowa.
4WHEREAS, Joan (Joni) Arnett was born in Des Moines
5to Max and Maxine Judkins, who instilled in their two
6children a love for learning, the virtues of kindness,
7compassion, hard work, and perseverance, and the
8importance of helping anyone who might need it;and
9WHEREAS, Joni began her career as an Iowa Capitol
10tour guide on January 23, 1976, and for the past 25
11years has been the supervisor of the Iowa Capitol tour
12guides;and
13WHEREAS, Joni’s deep appreciation for and knowledge
14of the history of the Iowa Capitol and the stories of
15all of the people who played a part in its planning,
16construction, adornment, restoration, and maintenance
17will be missed beyond measure;and
18WHEREAS, throughout her career, Joni has been the
19consummate colleague, supporting legislators, staff,
-1-1and visitors, and stepping in whenever needed to lend
2a helping hand;and
3WHEREAS, Joni has become a friend to many, and
4her love of the Iowa Capitol and her desire to make
5everyone feel welcome shines through to anyone who has
6been lucky enough to spend time with her during her
7career;and
8WHEREAS, Joni leaves the Legislative Services Agency
9to engage in new adventures, including traveling and
10spending more time with her family, including her
11daughter Addison, sons Max and J.D., and her much
12beloved granddaughter, Lola, who has politely requested
13that Joni bring her a new toy when she visits next
14week;NOW THEREFORE,
   15BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE, That Joan Arnett be
16publicly recognized for her many years of dedicated
17service to the state of Iowa, the Iowa General
18Assembly, and the Legislative Services Agency, and
19congratulated on her retirement;and

   20BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a formal copy of this
21resolution be presented to Joan Arnett, with the
22sincere appreciation and best wishes of the Senate.
